Kathleen Frances Sundermeyer

Kathleen Frances (Edgecomb, Dundas) Sundermeyer, RN, of Eaton Rapids, Michigan

Passed away July 4, 2019 at the age of 75 at home surrounded by her dear family and cat, Whiff. Kathleen was born on March 12, 1944, in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Conn) Edgecomb. She was a lifelong nurse, and graduated with her RN diploma from Grace Hospital of Nursing, devoting her 47-year career to mental health nursing.

Kathleen’s faith journey started in the Lutheran Church and grew when she married Pastor Carl Sundermeyer and supported him as First Lady of Pittsford Congregational Church, the First Congregational Church in Eaton Rapids, and Mayflower Congregational Church of Lansing. She loved her cats and dogs and enjoyed singing in the choir, reading, playing the saxophone, camping, and being outdoors. Kathleen’s faith was of the utmost importance in her life, helping to mold her into a strong, caring woman, nurse, and devoted mother.

She is survived by her daughter, (Susan) Hope Dundas, PA-C, of Ann Arbor, Michigan; son, James Dundas, PhD, of Austin, TX; brother-in-law, Jay Gill of New Baltimore, MI; sister-in-law, Carol Birnbaum, and niece, Riin Gill of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Kathleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Carl Sundermeyer in 2001, brother, Charles Edgecomb in 1990, and her sister Carol Gill in March 2019.

Memorial services will be 12 pm Friday July 12, 2019 at the Mayflower Congregational Church, 2901 W. Mt. Hope Rd. Lansing, MI 48911. Visitation will take place at the Mills Funeral Home, Shelly-Odell Chapel, 518 S. Main St. Eaton Rapids on Thursday from 6-8 pm and Friday at the church one hour prior to the service.
