Elizabeth Ann Bowers of Alma, formerly of Okemos,
Our dearly beloved mother, grandmother and friend to all, Elizabeth Ann Bowers, only daughter of Lynn and Beatrice Besley, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2021, at the Michigan Masonic Pathways Home. Betsy was born on December 12, 1929, in Coldwater, Michigan and lived a very full life of 91 years. She graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1947. Betsy married Henry Herbert “Hank” Bowers on May 14, 1949, and they spent the next three years in the Navy stationed in the Panama Canal Zone where their first son David was born. Betsy and Hank then moved back to Lansing, Michigan where Mike was born in 1954 and Scott was born in 1956. Betsy was highly active throughout her life including holding many positions within the Christian Science Church, Okemos Masonic Temple fund raising events, Okemos Public Schools DP department, Michigan State University DP department, Cub Scout den mother, Lunch Bunch founding member, past President of the Okemos Boosters Club, Okemos High School Teen Center volunteer, Meridian Township Police Department records filer volunteer, and ride provider for many of her peers. Over ten years, Betsy never missed her sons many athletic games and other events at Okemos High School including football, basketball, baseball, swimming, and water polo.
Betsy is survived by her three sons, David (Kyle), Mike (Nancy), and Scott (Laura), numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Older brother Richard “ Dick” Besley predeceased her. At Betsy’s request there will be private services.
No services are planned at this time. Mom’s loving, nurturing, and spiritual presence was a gift to her sons, family, and friends and we will miss her dearly. She touched many lives through her continued generosity and loving heart.
