Gloria Jean Pomeroy Maidens of Springport,
Went to be with her Lord and Savior, May 14, 2019 at the age of 88. Gloria was born in Big Rapids, MI, February 1, 1931. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Eaton Rapids. Gloria was always active with the churches wherever she lived. She began singing at church for revivals at the age of 3. Gloria enjoyed teaching and writing plays for her Sunday school classes at her church in Bear Lake and other churches wherever she served her Lord. She Loved telling people about Jesus’ love for them. Gloria also enjoyed gardening, reading, crocheting, playing board & card games, puzzles, playing the piano & singing, cleaning the house, traveling to visit children and grandchildren and watching Shirley Temple movies while eating popcorn and fudge. She was a born dare devil all her life: ex. She rode the roller coaster at Michigan Adventure at age 83.
Gloria is survived by her daughters, C.J. (Karl) Halsey of Springport, Deborah (Clark) Taylor of Washington; son, Roger Maidens of British Columbia, Canada; daughters in law, Marilyn Maidens Ransom & Debbie Maidens Miller; grandchildren, Leora (Chuck) Gibbons, John (Alison) Snyder, Stephanie Snyder, Richard (Camela) Maidens, Angela Cunningham, Christopher Taylor, Christina Taylor, Mandy Maidens, Emmett Maidens-Sãra, Tereck (Emily) Halsey, Ty Halsey; 27 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Ralph (Beverly) Powell of Harrison, Charles (Sally) Powell of Marion; sister, Marilyn Currier of Mt. Pleasant; several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Maidens; son, Thomas Maidens; mother, Beulah Powell; brother, Wayne Powell and sister Judy Evans.
Memorial services will be held Saturday June 8, 2019 at 11am at Grace Baptist Church in Eaton Rapids MI. Interment will take place at a later date in Bear Lake Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Missionary Ministry at Grace Baptist Church in Eaton Rapids or the Jean Bradford Kline Senior Center of Eaton Rapids. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Tina Barrett for her 4 years of service lovingly caring for Gloria and also Judy Huff for bringing the laughter to her final months.
