Harry Marvin McDowell Jr. of Lansing peacefully passed away on January 30th, 2021 at the age of 76. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 4th, 1945. Harry was a loving son to Harry Sr. and Dorothy (Evans) McDowell. Harry was an amazing man who spent his life dedicated to loving his wife and family. When he was not doting on his family, Harry worked for General Motors as a Supervisor and retired in 1995. He prided himself on being a support system to those in need. He was considered our “fix-it” man, whether it was an engine, anything to do with your home, or even an attitude. He was always there to “fix it”. Harry loved creating things for others, if you could not find him, he was probably in the garage working on various things. He loved the outdoors and spent many days hunting, camping, and driving his motorhome, which he lovingly called the “Mystery Machine,” on adventures with his family. Harry was the rock of the family and will be greatly missed and cherished by all of them.
Harry is survived by his children, Ricky (Christine) McDowell of Perry, Cheryl (Maxwell Deh) McDowell of Eaton Rapids; grandchildren, Jeremy Holder, Casey McDowell, Maxwell Deh Jr., Marvin Deh, Myah Deh; great grandchild, Stacia Holder; honorary grandchildren, Comfort Deh, Shawn Holder, Ezra Deh, Desirae and Donovan Midtgard; brothers, Howard (Joan) McDowell, Allen (Kathleen) McDowell, Donald McDowell; sister-in-law, Betty McDowell. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Richard McDowell, and James McDowell, and his devoted wife of 57 years, Sheila.
