James “Jim” John McKenna of Lakeview,

Passed away surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer. Jim was born in Big Rapids, MI, on April 8, 1936, the son of Edward and Margaret (Whalen) McKenna. Jim graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Mt. Pleasant. After graduation he proudly served with the Marine Corp, Private First Class from 1959-1963. Jim was married to the love of his life, Karen on April 10, 1961 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. He owned and operated McKenna’s Village Restaurant in Lakeview for over 30 years before passing the torch to his son Greg. In his later years he was a member at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Remus.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Jamie (Kraig) Vandam and Debbie (Ronnie) Klein; sons, Brian (Raymi Sunabe) McKenna, Greg McKenna and Steven McKenna; grandchildren, Chris Richards, Lindsay and Mitchell Vandam, McKenna, Lauren and Lexi Klein, Kaley McKenna, Jackson and Kennedy McKenna; sister, Carolyn Mills; sister-in-law, Shirley McKenna. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karen McKenna; sister, Kathryn Stuefen; brother Michael “Mickey” McKenna.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am Monday, December 14, 2020 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 9 Mile Rd and 50th Ave Remus, MI 49340 with visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were entrusted to the Mills Funeral Home, Shelly-Odell Chapel in Eaton Rapids.
