Nicky Marie Getter,
passed away on June 7, 2021 in Lansing, Michigan at the age of 49 due to a long struggle with drug addiction. Mrs. Getter was born July 27, 1971 in Jackson, Michigan to Gary and Vickie Nichol. Although Nicky didn’t grow up dreaming of a long battle with drug addiction, sadly addiction doesn’t discriminate. She had dreams of becoming a nurse and enjoying her beautiful family. Her addiction to drugs had other plans for her. Addiction is pure misery, which slowly robbed her of her dignity, self-respect, her beautiful smile, and her healthy body. Ultimately, Nicky would alienate herself from her loved ones and live a life full of discomfort and contention. In the end, she would only seek the company of local drug manufacturers and drug dealers who eventually fed her the final, lethal dose. Nicky was a wife, a mother, grandmother, and a child of God. Even though her addiction defined her death, it did not define her as a person. She was loved by many for the beautiful soul that was just beneath the surface, suffocated by her struggles. Her potential was great and her time was too short. She will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Getter is survived by her loyal husband, Ted Getter; her children, Kallie Getter, Chase Getter, Coty Harmon, and Austin Harmon; and her 3 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Gary and Vickie Nichol. A private service for immediate family only is being planned.
The family has entrusted the Mills Funeral Home, Shelly-Odell Chapel in Eaton Rapids to assist them with arrangements. Those desiring may send online condolences to www.millsfuneral.com.
