Richard “Dick” Stanton of Jackson, (Tompkins Center),
Passed away October 24, 2020 at the age of 91. Dick was born in Detroit, MI, January 15, 1929 the son of Harry Leavenworth Stanton II and Lucille (Hubbard). Dick left high school to enlist with the US Navy where he served during the Korean War on the USS Dayton as a radar man 3rd class. After his service, he returned to finish his high school diploma at Royal Oak High School. He attended art school at Meinzinger Art School in Detroit, was a consummate artist sharing many of his pen and ink drawings with family and friends, and also, displayed his art in many galleries. Dick’s artistic prowess led him to work for Jacobson’s as a display manager for over 35 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Jackson Civic Art Association, USS Dayton Ship Reunion, Tompkins Center Historical Society and loved to golf.
Dick is survived by his wife, Barbara Stanton; son, Guy (Shirley) Stanton of Houghton Lake; grandchildren, Jamie Baum of Clawson, Corey Stanton of Royal Oak, Christine Stanton of WI, Sarah (Nick) Wingate of WI; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Tom Llewellyn of Royal Oak. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, John “Jack” Llewellyn; daughter, Louanne Stanton; brother, Harry Stanton.
Memorial services will be 11 am Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church, Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church, 600 S. Main St, Eaton Rapids or Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home, 2150 Kingsbrooke Dr., Jackson, MI 49202.
